The Abdul Aziz Islamic Foundation comprises a management team headed by the Chief Executive Officer, the chairman, vice-chairman of the Sierra Leone program and all other board members, and a project lead officer.

Abdul Aziz Sahid Kamara
Chief Executive Officer, Founder & Board Member, USA
Mr. Kamara brings a wealth of experience to the role of Chief Executive Officer. He has worked tirelessly to bring this organization to where it is today. He cofounded the organization with his wife and later transformed the idea into the reality of what we have seen the Abdul Aziz Islamic Foundation has achieved today in terms of putting smiles to the faces of communities and their people. Mr. Kamara currently resides in Herndon, Virginia, USA. He is employed with the Loudoun County Commissioner of Revenue’s Office as a Personal Property Compliance Tax Specialist a position he has held for a period of eight months since he joined the county.
Before joining the county he worked with the Commonwealth State of Virginia in the Tax Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles Administration as a Senior Tax Examiner. He holds two master’s degrees; a Master of Public Administration from the Strayer University, and a Master of Science in Taxation from the Kogod School of Business, American University, USA. Additionally, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and has also completed many certifications in the areas of leadership, management, nonprofit management, financial analysis, and taxation, public management and finances, conflict resolution, prevention and mediation and information technology.
Mr. Kamara has also worked as a Customer Service Generalist in the Department of Motor Vehicle Administration (DMV) Customer Service Centers and also a Mobile Generalist Senior in the Mobile/Connect Services of the same DMV with progressive promotions. Before joining the DMV, Mr. Kamara has also worked with the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicle Administration as a Customer Service Agent, the Department of Commerce at the US Census Bureau as an Enumerator in the Decennial Housing and Population Census 2020 in the US. Mr. Kamara also has private sector experience working for various state and local authorities in various transportation agencies. Mr. Kamara is married to the co-founder and has three children. His hobbies are watching European soccer competitions, athletics, reading, and volunteering on many causes that impact humanity.

Isatu Sasu Kamara
Co-founder, Finance Director & Board Member, USA
Madam Isatu Sasu Kamara is the co-founder of the foundation and holds 50 percent of its shares. She is the wife of the founder and the backbone of this foundation. Mrs. Kamara was a Secondary School teacher with several years of teaching experience. She holds a Higher Teacher’s Certificate (HTC) with a major in Mathematics and Computing from the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology, Goderich Campus. In the US she holds an Associate degree in Science from the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) with a major in both General Studies and Health Science and currently pursuing her Bachelor in Nursing at the Chamberlain University and a mother of three children who are active volunteers of this foundation Tarick, Aminata, and Hamza. Mrs. Kamara currently works with Dulles Centre Rehab Homes in Virginia as a Certified Nursing Assistant and the Reston Hospital.

Abdulai A. Kargbo
Chairman of the Board and Head of Sierra Leone Programs
Mr. Kargbo is a retired civil servant with the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Freetown, Sierra Leone. Before his retirement he was Senior Manager and Head of Records and Information Unit of the Insurance Trust where he uses to supervise a staff complement of thirty junior and mid-level staff. He was also a part-time lecturer at the Institute of Library, Archive, and Information Studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone from 2001 to 2004, a Library Assistant, Principal Library Assistant, Assistant Librarian, Librarian (Sierra Leone Library Board, Freetown) between 1982 to 2004 and has over thirty years of voluntary experience as a member and head of the Voluntary Work Camps Association of Sierra Leone (VWASL), is a Gold Awardee, and member of the Board of the National Youth Award, Sierra Leone Chapter of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. He holds both an undergraduate and a postgraduate diploma, a master’s in library science, Archive and Information Studies, a certificate in Journalism, an honors degree in Political Science, and Human Resource Management certificates. Mr. Kargbo other activities includes the current Deputy Chairman, Masjid Yusuf Al-Muhajireen Islamic Mission, Yams Farm, Western Rural District, Sierra Leone, Chairman, Bilnas Finland Primary and Secondary Schools Management Committee, Yams Farm, Western Rural District, Sierra Leone, Caretaker National Coordinator (VWASL), Freetown and President/National Coordinator Voluntary Work Camps Association of Sierra Leone (VWASL), Freetown

Professor John Abdul Kargbo
Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone
Professor John Abdul Kargbo is the current Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and also the Vice Chancellor 2 of the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Before moving into that position, he was the director of studies at the Institute of Library, Archive, and Information Studies, Fourah Bay College, a position he held before being appointed as the Dean. Apart from being the Dean of faculty, he also lectures at the Institute of Library, Archives, and Information Studies and has written extensively on Library, Internet, Records management, Applied Information Management, and many other fields. He holds a bachelor’s degree, a postgraduate diploma, and a Master of Philosophy degree in Library and Information Management.

Mrs. Sumaiya Brown
Administrator and Board Member, USA
Mrs. Brown is a Muslimah currently living in Virginia, USA. Formerly enlisted in the US Air Force, she has an Associate’s Degree in Aircraft Technology from the University of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Adult Education & Training from St. Joseph’s College, and a master’s degree in education (MS.Ed) from Shenandoah University in Virginia. Sumaiya is a seeker of knowledge, and a writer, writing coach, and editor. She has remained employed as an adjunct instructor at Northern Virginia Community College for the past ten years. Mrs. Brown is accepting the invitation to serve on the Board in an administrative and advisory capacity and in the interest of assisting in the propagation of Deen Al-Islam and the building of strong Muslim communities that serve the interests of the believers by sharing in knowledge, wealth, and services.

Mohamed Aliyu Koroma
Lead Project Officer
Mr. Mohamed Aliyu Koroma holds a Certificate in Community Development from JICA (Japan), a Certificate on World Bank Environment and Social Framework, Diploma in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Mass Commemoration from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Career wise Mr. Koroma is a film producer and director and had previously worked with the Freetown City Council Media Department as a Media Specialist before moving to the Kenema District Council as acting Head of Media and Communications. He is the current Head of Media and Communication Specialist for Kailahun District Council within the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs in Sierra Leone. Mr. Koroma also posses basic skills in producing documentaries, short film and newsletter magazines.

Alhaji Saidu Kamara
Head of the Foundation Media Team and Journalist
Mr. Alhaji Saidu Kamara is a veteran journalist, attached to the Global Times Newspaper as News Editor. He is also a Media Analyst attached to African Young Voices (AYV) television and also a news anchor for Radio Lion Mountain FM 101.3. Alhaji Saidu holds a Diploma in Journalism, and he has attended various media training courses both in Sierra Leone and abroad including Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal. He has also worked for many media houses in Sierra Leone including the Sierra Leone Daily Mail, Standard Times, For di People and the Democrat newspaper. Prior to all of these appointments he was also the Secretary General of the Press Gallery covering the Sierra Leone parliamentary proceedings from 2002 to 2007. He is also a vibrant member of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalist and a member of the Veteran Journalist Union (VeJU). Married and blessed with three sons.

Sheik Abdul Rashid Kamara
Vice Chairman of the Board, Sierra Leone
Sheik Abdul Rashid kamara was born on 12 July 1966 and attended the St Peter’s Primary School from 1970 to 1973 and then transferred to the Bassa Town Primary School from 1973 to 1975 and later finished up at the Ahmadiyya primary school from 1973 to 1980 where he sat to his Common Entrance Examination in 1980 and passed for the United Muslim Association Secondary School from 1980 to 1985 and took his General Certificate Ordinary level GCE O’Levels in 1985. In 1986 Mr. Kamara began his professional life immediately after taking his ordinary level exams and became employed as a Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the Mount Everest Security Agency to 1987. While working Mr. Kamara was also a student at the Ansarul Islamic College from 1988 through 1993 in Freetown where he obtained a certificate in Islamic Studies and had held many positions including Deputy Chief Imam of the Susu mosque, one of the 16 ethnic tribes in Sierra Leone in Bo district in the Southern Province of Sierra Leone, a position he served from 1991 to 1999.
In 2000, he was inaugurated as the Regional Chief Imam for the Western Rural District, Waterloo and has also worked as coordinator for various charity organizations including SOS charity, One Nation and One Ummah all base in UK. Mr. Kamara also bring along to the board with varied experiences and voluntary services with the District Health Management Team (DHMT) in the Western Rural District, Waterloo, Coordinator Inter Religious Council of Sierra Leone, NACORVAC Ambassador during the Corona COVID-19, Coordinator, Focus 1000 for Western Rural from 2015 to 2017, and also a member of the Country Coordinating Mechanism in Sierra Leone under the CCM- SL GLOBAL FUND. Mr. Kamara is happily married with seven children’s.
